Here’s a comment I just left on the 3Worlds Shamanism facebook group:
« Shamanic practices of all sorts have become a human habit across the world those last thousands of years, so say anthropologists. If we look into Rupert Sheldrake’s books and lectures on morphogenetic fields, we may theorize that this habit of « holding-ceremonies-in-a-transe-state-in-order-to-communicate-with-spirits-for-the-greater-good » may have got kind of encrypted in the memory of our species (through space-time, beyond skin colors, bloodlines and lineages), and that it may be possible to tap into it through trance. So whether we’re Westerners or not, whether we have a lineage or not, I personally believe we have « shamanic » ways to tap into some information that is kind of « licensed » under Creative Commons, so to speak, for the greater good. Being able to work for the greater good in the way we see fits shouldn’t be a privilege linked to skin color or lineages, in my own anarchist’s little humble opinion. »
Precisions – definitions:
– « Holding a ceremony »: « officiating in a sacred diplomatic space, where we negotiate with spirits for the greater good (theirs, ours, our species’, all species’, etc…) ».
– « trance »: « a state that – among a few other things – may allow spirits to « ride » you, and that would be called « dissociation » by a psychiatrist ».
